Behold
BEHOLD!
The Kite Gypsy
The flight of his kite is a metaphor for Life! And, you don't have to be
too bright
to figure out
that the night becomes
the haunt of fantasy
only because the transparency of dreams
is reflected in the wind as it pushes
against the backbone and pulls the tissue taut. And, "Were it not for
Kites
the Wind would die-
of boredom!"
Thus spake a poet- in reverie- once
upon the witnessing of a daily ritual
that would create this legendary figure. Behold the Kite Gypsy!
To fly a kite for each and every day!
Indeed! To celebrate
the very air we breathe.
While offering a prayer folded
in bamboo and paper, and watching it
become a dot in the sky, and sometimes-
just for kicks- cutting the line
while remaining attached to the ground.
Until finally,... finally
that part of his being that is projected
with a wish
is broadcast to the world
on a breeze...
BEHOLD!
Written especially for my good friend; E.W. Redmond. Christmas Day 2000
